3:30 p.m. Lecture by Tony Buba on his work and career (Communication
Arts Colloquium) 4070 Vilas Hall, 821 University Ave. Free and open
to the public.
7 p.m. Screening of "Struggles in Steel: A story of African-American
Steelworkers" (1996, 85 minutes), followed by audience discussion
with Tony Buba, co-producer Raymond Henderson, sound mixer Wayne
Gaines, and community respondents Jim Cavanaugh, President, South
Central Federation of Labor, and Bill Franks, President, Coalition
of Black Trade Unionists. Co-sponsored by the Wisconsin Labor History
Society. Majestic Theatre, 115 King St. Free and open to the public.
Friday, September 21
Noon-1:15 p.m. "Struggles in Steel: Personal History and Documentary
Filmmaking." A brown-bag lunch and informal discussion with
Tony Buba, Raymond Henderson and Wayne Gaines, co-sponsored by the
Multicultural Student Center. Multicultural Student Center, Red
Gym 2nd Floor, 716 Langdon St. University students, faculty and
staff invited to attend.
Saturday, September 22
3 p.m. Screening of "Lightning Over Braddock: A Rustbowl Fantasy"
(1998, 80 minutes), followed by audience discussion with Tony Buba.
